State Fair
Before school started, we drove over to the state fair. I love fairs. I love the rodeos--especially the bull riding and bronc busting so I was excited for this one. Guess what--no rodeos! Here they do buggy races, demolition derbies, and tractor pulls. We still had fun walking what seemed miles around it and eating our way through. We gave each kid some money and told them that we would buy them lunch and dinner but they were responsible for treats, souvenirs, or activities. After lunch, we found a really fun (free) activity. The kids got to take a basket and visit various 'farms' where they collected eggs, wool, veggies, milk cartons (new, unused ones), and more. They then took them to the farmers market where they sorted them and recieved 'money'. They then got to buy something in the store. They loved it. Raptor then spent half her money on a pony ride which she loved!! Her other half went on her own cotton candy bag and a big pink ball. She was so tickled to have her own cotton candy but not so tickled when she realized that she was all "tick-ee". Ramble held on to his money until almost the end. Then he spent it on carnival games. He was really picky about it and walked up and down the midway until one guy told him everyone wins and he'd let him have more than one shot for his money. Ramble forked over his money and got to shoot the basketball until it went in--I think it took 3 tries and the hoop was really little. Then Ramble and I played whack a mole. Ramble got 2 prizes for his money and then decided to splurge and spend the rest all in one place. On a turn at climbing the rock wall. Raptor was so mad that she was too little and pouted (in a cute way for passers by but NOT for us). The girl running the booth said that she wasn't too small height wise and if she wanted to, she could try for free. So, up they both went. Raptor made it about 4 rocks up--maybe 3 feet up but Ramble climbed the hard side all the way to the top and rang the bell!!! By the time he was up there, he had quite an audience and then he didn't want to let go and come down. We had neglected to tell him that you just jump out and it lowers you down. I asked him if he trusted me and he said . . .wait for it . . .NO! Silly boy! We had lots of fun and if I can figure out how to download pics from a phone, I'll post them of the kids.

1 week, 3 cakes
A few weeks ago, I made 3 cakes in one week. A diaper cake, the solar system, and a flowerpot cake. My favorite was the diaper cake. It didn't fall apart at the end, have its frosting drip of because of the humidity as it was being frosted or have to be rebaked before it was even half way frosted because it fell apart. Plus it was fat free :-)

Diaper cake for a good friend's baby shower.

Solar system before we took it to the school. Yes, it does
have Pluto even though those who are scientists now claim it
can't be a planet, my son's class decided to include it in their
giant diorama so I did too.

At the school with Ramble and Raptor. Jupiter and Saturn are
cake. Most of the kids wanted to eat Jupiter. They didn't care
that it was chocolate and Saturn was yellow cake.

A thank you cake to the awesome teachers at Ramble's school. It was
my first time to make flowers out of fondant and I had fun doing it. This
was what it looked like before it got to the school. It is NOT what it
looked like when I arrived at the school. The entire back half had broken
off of the cake and lay on the base. I was in shock!! Thank goodness for the
wonderful secretary who helped me piece it back together. We set it up with
the good side out and the teachers still ate it (they are great sports).

Ramble's class in school is studying space. They have built a model of the space shuttle (it's 3 levels high and is almost as tall as the ceiling which is 2 stories! Last week Ramble got to travel to the moon! Here's his certificate. He was so excited that he got to play steps to the moon and got to 'walk' on the moon.
Sooo. We learned something today. If your child is bitten by another child, they will most likely bite someone.
Today at church, Raptor was getting a drink at the drinking fountain when another little boy, younger than her, got a drink at the fountain next to hers. As she was drinking, he leaned over and chomped her arm! I've never seen a complete set of bites like that. We could see each individual tooth mark for each of his teeth on her arm. OUCH! Poor Raptor.
At bedtime the kids were playing and Raptor was laughing and had jumped on Ramble's back when all of a sudden he yelled out in pain. Raptor had chomped him! I don't think it was on purpose because they were laughing so hard I think she bonked him with her mouth. So we are working on the saying "What do teeth bite?" "Only food!"
