Alien vegetables from our CSA farm experience

We decided to join another family and buy a share of vegetables from a local CSA farm.  The farm is actually about 1 1/2 hours away but they deliver once a week to our town.  We go and pick up our vegetables from a person's house and split what we get with a friend's family.  Each week we have gotten cucumber, broccoli, peas, turnips, cabbage, a LOT of lettuce, and other veggies.  One that we got is new to us.  Here's a picture of what the kids call our alien veggy:

Do you know what it is?  The only reason we did was because they told us.  It's a kohlrabi and you peal it then you can eat it raw, steamed, fried, or baked.  We've tried it raw in salads and steamed with turnips and broccoli.  It was good both ways and we all agreed that we like it better than turnips.
