Strawberries

One thing our family loves to do is go to u-pick farms.  We have gone to them in Utah, Oklahoma, New York, and Illinois and were hoping to find some around here.  We found a berry farm about 1 1/2 hours away from us and were so excited to go.  Turns out that because of the mild winter that we had, the berries didn't fair too well.  They need lots of snow and cold temperatures to keep the moisture in with them and help them grow.  The farm was only open for 1 week.  After a 5:30 am wakeup, we piled into the car and we were off.
Picking the berries.  Lots were red but over ripe.  Most were very small.
We even found some that were heart shaped (but I forgot to take a picture of them).
When we were finished, we looked at our buckets and realized that we had picked the amount of berries in order of age:
Daddy, Mommy, Ramble, Raptor
Leaving the field on a great sunny morning.
What I don't have a picture of is our hands and Raptor's clothing after we pulled all the green tops off the berries and bagged them to freeze.  We looked like we had been up to no good but we had a fun time!
